The defender of your rights before Algerian courts
Lawyers practice under Law No. 13-07 of October 29, 2013 on the organization of the legal profession (Official Gazette No. 55 of October 30, 2013, page 3). They must be registered on the roll of the bar of their wilaya, under the supervision of the National Union of Algerian Bar Associations (UNOA). Under Article 9 of this law, the guiding principles are independence, integrity, loyalty, disinterestedness, courtesy and fraternity. Professional secrecy is absolute.
Representation in court
They plead before the tribunal, court of appeal, Supreme Court or Council of State. Without a lawyer, you cannot be validly represented in most civil, criminal or administrative proceedings.
Legal advice
They analyze your situation, identify your rights and obligations, and advise you on the steps to take — even before a dispute arises. Often less costly than waiting for litigation.
Drafting contracts and private agreements
They draft employment contracts, partner agreements, commercial leases, memoranda of understanding, or any document that does not require a notary.
Business law
Company formation, commercial disputes, debt collection, tax litigation, labor law — the lawyer supports entrepreneurs at every step.
Family law
Divorce, child custody, alimony, contested inheritance, kafala — these matters require a lawyer once they are disputed or complex.
Diaspora and international law
For anything related to Algerian law from abroad: inheritance, property acquisition, disputes, nationality — a lawyer based in Algeria is essential.
You received a court summons
Whether civil or criminal, contact a lawyer immediately. They will represent and defend you.
You want to set up a company
A lawyer can draft the bylaws and secure the relationships between partners, complementing the notary for official deeds.
An important contract is at stake
Before signing, have it reviewed by a lawyer. Especially for commercial leases, business transfers, and partnership agreements.
A dispute with a third party
Neighbor, employer, business partner, administration — as soon as a conflict emerges, a lawyer can often resolve it before going to court.
You live abroad and have affairs in Algeria
To follow a case in your absence, a lawyer can act under power of attorney and represent you at all hearings.
Lawyer vs Notary
The notary draws up official deeds with executory force (property sales, inheritances). The lawyer represents and defends in disputes. Both may be needed: a notary for the inheritance, a lawyer if it is contested.
Lawyer vs Bailiff
The bailiff enforces court decisions. The lawyer obtains them. After a favorable judgment, the bailiff is responsible for enforcing it.
Lawyer vs Chartered accountant
For tax or labor disputes, the chartered accountant prepares the figures, while the tax lawyer argues the case before the competent courts.
